Materials & finish
Birch plywood ribs with their layered ply edges left visible, made to order in New York. Every piece is one of a kind, so grain and tone vary slightly from the photographs.
- Natural — raw birch, grain left untouched. Ships in about 5 business days.
- Walnut Stain — birch hand-stained in a walnut tone (not solid walnut). Ships in 2–3 weeks.
- Black Stain — birch hand-stained deep black, grain still showing. Ships in 2–3 weeks.
Installation
Ships uninstalled to protect it in transit: the ribs and a numbered wall bracket travel separately, with screws and wall anchors included.
Fix the bracket to the wall, then slot each numbered rib into its matching number. About five minutes; you'll need a level, a drill and a marker. Installation guide

About ANOMALY II
Anomaly II is a parametric wood wall sculpture on a monumental scale. It rises from a tall, deep end, narrows into a tight twist at its centre and flares out again at the far end, so the form seems to turn as you walk past it. Each rib is cut from birch plywood, sanded and assembled by hand in our Brooklyn studio, so the layered edge of the wood stays part of the design.
Size: 103.75 in wide × 22.75 in high × 7 in deep. Finishes: natural birch, or birch hand-stained in a walnut tone or black. Ships uninstalled with its numbered wall bracket, screws and anchors, and goes up in about five minutes (see our installation guide). Free shipping within the USA, and covered by our lifetime guarantee.
Story
Anomaly II takes the original Anomaly and lets it run: the same outlier form, stretched across nine feet of wall.
At this scale it stops being a piece on the wall and becomes the wall itself — a single disruption long enough to anchor a living room, a hallway or a lobby.
Anomaly II is not decoration. It is the ordinary, broken on purpose, at full scale.
Questions
Will it fit my wall?
Send us a photo of your wall with its measurements and we'll help you choose the right piece, size and finish before you order.
Does it come ready to hang?
Each piece ships uninstalled to protect it in transit: the ribs and the numbered wall bracket travel separately, and screws and wall anchors are included. Installing it takes about five minutes. Fix the bracket to the wall, then slot each numbered rib into its matching number on the bracket. See our installation guide.
How do I clean the wall art?
Dust gently with a dry or slightly damp soft cloth. Avoid household cleaning agents, as these may affect the finish.
Will the color and grain be exactly as shown?
Each piece is one of a kind. Natural variation in birch grain and tone means your piece may differ slightly from the photographs — a mark of its handcrafted character.
Can it be hung vertically?
Yes. Every piece can be hung either vertically or horizontally, to suit your space.
Can I order a custom size or finish?
Yes. Start a commission and tell us about your space.
